Abstract:
The article represents a historical-philosophical analysis of the problem of human dignity as it is referred to in the Enlightenment philosophy. The problem of dignity is considered within the system of such philosophical, moral-ethical and pedagogical categories as intelligence, education, labour, freedom, value, happiness, weal. The premises of human dignity are claimed to be the following: a person’s intelligence, freedom, creative thinking, strength in overcoming difficulties, ability to develop one’s knowledge and persist in enriching social weal. The article reveals the importance of economical independence for human dignity as well.
